Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease and flour two round cake pans.
In a bowl, mix dry ingredients.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.
Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Stir in boiling water gradually.
Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool cakes for 10 minutes in pans.
Transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
While cooling, prepare coffee buttercream.
Beat butter until creamy, add sugar gradually.
Mix in coffee and vanilla extract.
Frost the cooled cake layers.
Decorate as desired and serve.
