Equipment

  • Springform pan or cake ring For shaping the sushi cake
  • Mixing bowl For preparing sushi rice

Ingrédients

  • 2 cups sushi rice cooked and cooled
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1 cup sliced avocado
  • 1 cup cooked crab or imitation crab shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sriracha optional
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 nori sheet cut into strips for decoration

Instructions

Prepare the Sushi Rice

  • In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Stir until dissolved.
  • Pour the mixture over the cooked sushi rice and gently fold to combine. Let cool completely.

Assemble the Sushi Cake

  • Place a layer of sushi rice at the bottom of a springform pan or cake ring, pressing it down gently.
  • Spread an even layer of shredded crab mixed with mayonnaise and sriracha.
  • Add a layer of sliced cucumbers and avocados on top of the crab mixture.
  • Repeat the layers if desired, finishing with a final layer of sushi rice.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to set.

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove the sushi cake from the mold and place it on a serving plate.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and nori strips.
  • Slice into portions and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
