Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese optional
  • 4 lettuce leaves for wrapping
  • 4 portobello mushrooms grilled, as bun alternative
  • 4 slices sweet potato roasted, as bun alternative
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion sliced
  • 1/4 cup pickles optional
  • 1/4 cup mustard or mayonnaise for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Meat Mixture

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Mix well and form into small slider patties, about 2 inches in diameter.

Cook the Sliders

  • Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook sliders for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
  • If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Prepare the Bun Alternatives

  • Wash and dry large lettuce leaves for wrapping.
  • Grill portobello mushrooms until tender if using as a bun substitute.
  • Roast sweet potato slices in an oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes until soft.

Assemble the Sliders

  • Place each slider on a lettuce leaf, portobello mushroom, or sweet potato slice.
  • Top with tomato slices, red onion, and pickles.
  • Drizzle with mustard or mayonnaise as desired.

Serve

  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
