Ingrédients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder optional
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese for extra flavor, optional

Instructions

Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Drain the pasta and set aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce

  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  • Let the sauce simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until the cheese is melted and smooth.

Combine and Serve

  • Add the drained pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until fully coated.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.
